BASEBALL! ...and Letting Go

Our little boy is playing baseball! I remember when he was just a baby, Justin & I talking about how fun it would be when this day would come. Well, here we are! Jack comes from a long line of baseball players & baseball lovers. I just wish his Great-Grandpa Knowles (my grandpa) and his Grandma Martin (Justin's mom) could be here to see him play. They were both big baseball fans and I know they would have loved to see little Jack on the field...

Heading off to the ballfield for his first game. Number 9 was my grandpa's number when he played ball! :)

Playing his favorite position...Pitcher. Even though it is Coach-Pitch. :)

After the game with his best bud, sidekick, and teammate Jake.

I can't believe how tense it can be watching these little guys play! You just want them to do well so badly but, bless their little hearts, they don't know what's going on half the time! :)
The parents holler out from the stands trying to help, but really these little guys are on their own. That first game really struck me as one of those "letting go" experiences of parenthood. You practice & practice, but when it is game time you step back and they are left to do their best on their own. My "Mother's Heart" has a hard time letting go, but this is just part of the journey of parenthood. I know this pales in comparison to the greatest task of parenting and that is "Train a child in the way he should go and when he is old he will not turn from it." Proverbs 22:6 I hope I'm ready for this journey of gradually letting go of my little guy! (sniff, sniff)

Easter Sunday

The hunt is on!

The last treat was hidden in the back of Daddy's truck...

I think he is pleased with his loot!
Happy Easter!

Spring Break???

This is out of order, which really bothers me, but I had camera troubles so I am just now getting this post up...

Sister Bridget, hubby Brian, and son Trey (17) came to visit on Spring Break. We had a great time, but it was kind of a strange weekend. One day it was summertime weather and the next day it SNOWED. A lot. One day everyone was happy & healthy, and the next day Brian & Jack were both throwing up! Poor things! :( Bridget and I were unaffected, so we still enjoyed the weekend! Here are a few highlights of the weekend...

Enjoying dinner at PF Chang. mmmmmm.

Sister & I out on the town. We bought matching necklaces. So cute!

DAY 1: Brian & Jack frolicking in the yard

DAY 2: Brian & Jack sick on the couches. :(

DAY 1: Bridget enjoying a beautiful day outside...

DAY 2: Bridget watching her darling husband clear the SNOW off the car!

What a crazy weekend! Jack had loads of fun with Trey ( who effectively dodged the camera all weekend ) and Brian. Brian & Trey both have lots of energy and are GREAT with little kids. Jack adores them and was sad to see them leave.
Meanwhile, sister & I enjoyed a relaxing weekend full of coffee & chit-chat. :)
They didn't get the Texas springtime weather they were hoping for... I guess they'll just have to try again next year!

Round Top

I just got back from a wonderful weekend in Round Top, Texas with my trusty friend, Katy. We had a great time looking at all the antiques & treasures to be found, but we both agreed the best part was just getting away to this little piece of paradise in southern Texas. It is like stepping back in time...

The sweet little farmhouse where we stayed for the weekend. You could see nothing but grass, flowers & trees all around.
porches, hammocks, rocking chairs...ahhhhh....

Bluebonnets lining the lane to our little farmhouse

We had a few friends greet us on this misty morning on the way in to Round Top

More of the lane into town...

Now, once we got to town we were too busy perusing all the treasures to take any more pictures. Rest assured, a good time was had by all despite the lack of photos. I'll post pictures of my finds later. I must find them all a proper home first. :)
